The design plan we put together, was thorough, even by the most rigorous standards. The first level called for a series of process rooms, totaling 140,000-square-feet, to house complex proprietary production equipment, as well as clean rooms, development, testing and QC labs. The building’s process flow design, efficiency and overall environment prioritized the high-performance battery operations. The production of high volume, consistent and reliable product was almost guaranteed. But what about the people?

No real big surprise to the marketing professionals in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry that when it comes to marketing, our industry is often behind the curve of most other industries. Part of this is because marketing was outright illegal for professional services until the 1970s. Another reason is because there is a possible perception of some of our technical professionals that selling is somewhat sleazy.
 
An East Carolina University Construction Management professor and S.T. Wooten have teamed up in search of a solution to a problem facing the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). The NCDOT’s State Transportation Improvement Plan identifies approximately 100 bridges and more than 700 miles of roadways in eastern North Carolina’s 28 counties that need to be rebuilt within the next 10 years.

More than 60 organizations today announced Generation T (Gen T), a movement intended to help fill the skilled trade gap that analysts predict will leave three million jobs open by 2028. Led by North Carolina headquartered home improvement retailer Lowe's Companies Inc., the movement creates a path to grow talented tradespeople who are vital to the future of the construction industry.

 
Giving back to the communities where it works is a core value of Thomas & Hutton. Their Helping Hands program is an internal monthly service-based volunteer program where employees donate "sweat" hours to help local non-profits. The Thomas + Hutton Helping Hands crews recently assisted with the building of an oyster reef in Charleston.
